TYPE OF STUDY AGE STUDY DETAILS  
Lupus Nephritis (LN)
18-75 years of age This study is being conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the
investigational drug BIIB023 versus placebo in patients with LN.  Following
completion of the clinical trial you may have the opportunity to enter the open
label extension trial.You may be able to participate in this study if you:
  • have a documented diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
  • have a diagnosis of Class III or IV LN or coexisting class V LN
  • have not had dialysis within the past 12 months
  • do not have  a history of renal transplant
 
       
Rheumatoid Arthritis 50 years of age or older This study is being conducted to compare the effects of two arthritis medications, tocilizumab (TCZ) and etanercept (ETA), on the occurrence of cardiovascular illness in people with rheumatoid arthritis. 
You may be able to participate in this study if you:
  • have been diagnosed with RA for at least 6 months
  • still have RA symptoms despite having taken an RA medication
  • have not previously received more than one anti-TNF agent
  • previously treated with tocilizumab or etanercept
  • have one or more risk factors for heart disease, such as:
    • cigarette smoking
    • someone in your family has a history of a heart condition
    • diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol
    • history of a heart condition, such as a heart attaché, stroke, or heart disease

 
       
Osteoarthritis of the Hand 18 years of age or older This study is being conducted to evaluate the safety and biologic activity of gevokizumab versus placebo in the treatment of active inflammatory, erosive osteoarthritis of the hand. 
You may be able to participate in this study if you:
  • experience hand pain, aching, and/or stiffness and been told you have osteoarthritis
  • have a history of joint tenderness and/or redness within the past 30 days in the finger joints
  • • have not received any systemic anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive therapy for any conditions within the past 7

 
       
Digital Ulcers (Systemic Sclerosis) 18 years of age or older This study is being conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the investigational drug macitentan on digital ulcers associated with scleroderma.
You may be able to participate in this study if you:
  • have scleroderma
  • at least one visible digital ulcer that has developed or worsened in the last 8 weeks
  • history of digital ulcer within the last year
  • have not received any antibiotics to treat an infected digital ulcer within the past 4 weeks

 
       
Axial Spondyloarthritis 18 years of age or older

This study is being conducted to evaluate the prevalence of axial spondyloarthritis (SpA) in the United States among patients with chronic back pain and other SpA-related features using MRI scans and other tests
You may be able to participate in this study if you:

  • have not been previously diagnosed with SpA
  • have chronic back pain ≥ 3 months with age of onset < 45 years
